Sculptra® Aesthetic Is a Unique Product
Sculptra® Aesthetic, an FDA approved product, works a little differently from other dermal fillers. This treatment is considered more of a volumizer than wrinkle filler. Sculptra® Aesthetic makes use of a different chemical called the poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to stimulate collagen production in the skin.
Without requiring surgery, this volume replacement is injected. When mixed with your body’s own collagen, it fills the skin so that it “lifts” and gives the patient a more youthful appearance. The final result takes 2 months to be appreciated and three treatments may be necessary.
Sculptra® Aesthetic is an injectable implant of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) microparticles used to replace lost volume in the face and areas around the eyes. It works gradually to stimulate collagen and fill nasolabial folds and diminish wrinkles. The results are natural-looking. Dr. Jean Chapman is one of the top Sculptra injectors in the Atlanta Metro area. She has been using Sculptra on her patients for years and prefers it more than any other facial filler on the market.
When you make an appointment with Dr. Chapman for a consultation, she will look at your medical history and suggest a treatment plan that is unique to your needs. She will also discuss pricing at this meeting.
Treatment and Results
Dr. Chapman’s course of treatment consists of a series of injections over a few months’ time. When Sculptra is injected into the deep dermis layer of the skin, new collagen production is encouraged, which restores the smooth suppleness of younger skin. Visible results from new collagen production take at least four weeks. The treatment will last up to two years in some people; however, yearly maintenance treatments are recommended for continued collagen production.
Minimally invasive, non-surgical injectable procedure
Offers subtle, more natural looking reesults
Replaces lost collagen production and restores facial volume
It can be used to fill in both shallow and deep facial wrinkles, including nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines (lines around the mouth), and chin wrinkles.
How Long Does Sculptra Last?
It will last up to 2 years in most patients, but one treatment once a year is important for maintenance. You don’t want to go from full to zero. It takes 45-90 days after the treatment to see the full results. Dr. Chapman will work with you to determine the number of treatment sessions needed to achieve the best result. The average regimen consists of three injections spread out over three or four months.
Is it Safe?
Used for years in surgical products such as dis-solvable sutures, it does not contain any human, animal or bacterial components and is gradually absorbed by your body. It was approved for use as a cosmetic fat restorative by the FDA in 2009.
